FAIR TEST

Written Version

What is a fair test and why is it important?

A fair test is when you have the same amount of every material except one. If your experiment is not a fair test then it can cause the experiment to not work properly because other things are changing the reaction. For example in our experiment if there is more vinegar with more baking soda, it won’t make as much of an impact as more baking soda with the same amount of vinegar as before. This does not show an accurate reaction

How to design a fair test

To design a fair test you need to make sure that everything stays the same besides the one thing you are trying to test. The thing you change is what makes the reaction different each time you do it. For this experiment you need to make sure that you use the same amount of vinegar each time, the same size bottle and the same kind of balloon. We will be increasing the amount of baking soda we put in each bottle, to see if it makes any difference.
